Penny *ADOPTED!
Penny is one of the three Lucky Charms sisters! Before coming to CARE, Penny and her littermates were found under the hood of a car by a mechanic; CARE estimates they were approximately a week old. We knew they would need some luck to survive without their mom at such a young age, so we gave them what luck we could in their names. Penny started out as the runt of the litter but after a few weeks of warmth and food she was topping the daily weigh-ins and has turned into the sleek house panther she is today. She is the most “feline” of the three in her long, sleek appearance. When sits down upon entering a room, she poses with all four little paws positioned together in a neat little square and wraps her tail around them, turning herself into an adorable little package perfect for scooping up and kissing on the nose.
Penny loves to snuggle up on your lap or chest for a nap and gallop around the house with her sisters. She likes to be picked up and held, but will let you know with a firm meow when she’s ready to get down and explore.Penny and her sisters have had a chance to interact with several different families and all warmed up to new people within a day. They haven’t been able to be introduced to other animals yet due to their age and vaccine history, but they have heard/smelled dogs and other cats on the other side of a door. After startling the first time or two hearing a dog bark, they seemed less scared and more interested in discovering the dogs or cats attached to the new smells.
Penny and her sisters are litterbox trained, let us trim their nails, have free access to water and dry food in shared bowls, and eat wet food 3x/day from individual bowls. When it’s meal time (wet food) Penny is the slowest eater of the three. When they first started eating wet food, the other two would approach Penny’s bowl when they were finished to see if they could “help” her. Penny would let them know she was not interested in sharing by putting her paw down between her food and her sister and giving a low growl. While she stood her ground if needed, she never lashed out.
In a perfect scenario, all three Lucky Charms sisters would go to the same home. At the least, Penny would do well in a house where she had another pet friend to play with.
