Kismet is one of the three Lucky Charms sisters! Before coming to CARE, Kismet and her littermates were found under the hood of a car by a mechanic; CARE estimates they were approximately a week old. We knew they would need some luck to survive without their mom at such a young age, so we gave them what luck we could in their names. Kismet is one of the two black kittens in this litter – she is the fluffier of the two and the most outgoing. When she’s not napping with one of her sisters or on us, she loves to be picked up and held on your shoulder like a baby – she has the loudest purr of the three and it’s easy to get her motor going!. She also enjoys playing with her sisters, chasing ribbons, and the laser mouse.

Kismet and her sisters have had a chance to interact with several different families and all warmed up to new people within a day. They haven’t been able to be introduced to other animals yet due to their age and vaccine history, but they have heard/smelled dogs and other cats on the other side of a door. After startling the first time or two hearing a dog bark, they seemed less scared and more interested in discovering the dogs or cats attached to the new smells.

Kismet and her sisters are litterbox trained, let us trim their nails, have free access to water and dry food in shared bowls, and eat wet food 3x/day from individual bowls. When we first introduced the community bowls of dry food, Kismet was not interested in sharing, but after a few days of petting her while she and her sisters ate from the same bowl, she is no longer possessive of the dry food. When it’s meal time (wet food) Kismet is the first to run into the kitchen and skid to a halt at your feet when she hears the can being opened. When they first started eating wet food, Kismet would see if her sisters needed help after she finished her bowl, but after a week or redirecting, she now wanders off to play when she is done eating.

In a perfect scenario, all three Lucky Charms sisters would go to the same home. At the least, Kismet would do well in a house where she had another pet friend to play with.
