Ash, a female 9-month old gray tuxedo with beautiful amber eyes, is one of four kittens that was pulled from a Henrico shelter last September.  Shortly after being pulled, all four kittens developed pneumonia and had to be nursed back to health by their foster caregiver, but they’re thriving now!  Since Ash was not socialized as a young kitten, she is still rather shy around new people & surroundings; however, she has made tremendous improvement in recent weeks.  Her littermate/roommate was recently adopted, and Ash has now turned to the house humans for play and affection, blossoming into a true people cat! She’ll now roll on her side (at your feet) with the expectation of a full body scratch, and, in return, she’ll share her sweet purr.  (In general, she is a very quiet kitten, rarely making a sound.)

Ash enjoys cat tree views out her windows, where she bird hunts and keeps up with all outdoor happenings.  She’s recently become entertained by the tiny, life-like furry mice, carrying them as though they’re real and “chasing” them around on the hardwood floors.  The best fit for Ash is likely a fairly quiet environment, as she still startles easily from unexpected noises/sudden movements.  However, with the passage of time, she’d certainly adapt to a livelier situation as well.  Though she may require a little extra patience right now, Ash is going to be a wonderful kitty companion.
