Become a CARE Volunteer

CARE is always looking for new volunteers!

Can you help us with any of the following?

Foster Homes

We never have enough foster homes. Would you consider becoming a Foster Parent? It can be very rewarding and is such a vital part of C.A.R.E.’s mission of rescuing abandoned and homeless cats and kittens.  Learn more about becoming a CARE foster by clicking here.

Fundraising

Previous fundraisers include Strawberry Hill Gala, Ginter Park Garden, Ginter Park House Tours, Santa Paws (PetSmart), and grant writing. We also may have a “Night of Entertainment & Silent Auction” to raise much needed funds. If you sign up to help with the grants and fundraising, you will get your “hair done by Rosa for free”. Deanna is taking advantage of a new “do”, styled by Rosa herself!

Screening

Assist with helping and screening potential adopters at our Saturday and Sunday adoption stands at the Libbie Place and Short Pump PetSmart stores.

Assist with Animal Refuges

Accompany other CARE volunteers to work at other animal refuges, such as Rikki’s Refuge and Caring For Creatures.   Transport cats and kittens to television spots. Kathryn, a longtime CARE volunteer, is cleaning out a cat house at Rikki’s.

Cat Center Care Giver

Clean cages and feed and water the cats morning or evening once a week, or every other week, at the adoption centers located in the PetSmart stores at Libbie Place or Short Pump. This is also a wonderful opportunity to give the cats in the centers much needed and appreciated attention and affection.
