Meet some of our wonderful cats and kittens.  Our adoption process is simple but thorough.  YOU select a feline who touches your heart, fill out a preliminary adoption form and talk with an adoption counselor.  After your approval by our volunteers, a legal contract is signed with an adoption donation attached (this donation helps defray the medical costs incurred); and, you receive a free vet office visit at a participating vet within the first week. Prior to adoption, every CARE cat/kitten has received a thorough exam from a veterinarian, has tested negative for FIV/Felv (except as otherwise noted), been spayed/neutered, dewormed, given flea preventative, and been inoculated against distemper. Rabies vaccine is given if the feline is over 4 months. Any other desirable medical attention has also been provided. Barney
"It's Very Plain, You Don't Have To Be A Wizard
That I've Got It All Over That Big Purple Lizard"
My people moved and left me to fend for myself; tell me if you've never heard that story before. I was blessed that a kind hearted person took pity on me and fed me until I finally let her "catch" me. I would delight in having her pet me and would rub against her legs, but after my previous experience with the human race I was a bit reticent about letting her pick me up. All that changed when I showed up one day with an open wound on my tail. It's healing quite well now. I'm a buff tabby boy with beautiful white chest and paws. I'm about 2 years old and as sweet as sweet can be. Reveling in being petted or brushed, I love being in the center of things. I didn't like the door to my foster room being closed so my foster mom stacked baby gates up so that I could see her comings and goings and the other cats in the household. Another favored activity is lounging and gazing out the window. Mom says that I have a funny meow, but my CARE friend says that is very common for orange and buff kitties. I'm still a youngster at about 2 years of age and you couldn't ask for a nicer companion with whom to travel life's highway. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 for Kathryn's bodacious boy.

Nigel

Percy

Simon
While Once A Fairy Tale Ending Seemed Quite Slim
Now Nothing About These Brothers Is Grimm

We are the bros and our personal philosophy is that when it comes to baby boys as cute as we are, a lot of verbiage just isn't necessary. We are 13 weeks old as of 7-28. Nigel is a player, a fairly independent spirit who loves to romp and put his velvety nose into everything. Percy is the mellow fellow and is the definition of lover boy. He isn't above pouncing mom's slippers, especially if her feet are in them. Simon is the bashful boy, sweet, and very vocal. He is very attached to Percy.
Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797- Melanie is our foster mom.

Delite

Catina
What Bliss Awaits With Both Catina And Delite
Many A Friend Filled Day & Cuddlesome Night

It's hardly an unheard of happening, but it's no less tragic and unforgivable. Our people just moved away and left the two of us, one of pregnant and one with kittens. We are a classic case of kittens having kittens.
I'm Delite and I was expecting at the tender age of 10 months. I did my best to find us a home by following a neighbor into their house and talking up a storm. I am a very sweet and gentle lap kitty kind of girl who can hold up my end of a conversation and who gets along well with other cats.
I'm Catina and I had two kittens when we were rescued. I'm only about 6 or 7 months old; a tad shy at first meeting, but affectionate, quiet, and one who enjoys sitting with you. Now, just when have you seen larger, more soulful eyes than mine? We are special girls who did not deserve to be dumped like yesterday's news. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797- Sandy is our foster mom.

Carmen, Curtis, Francie

Carmen

Curtis

Francie
Most Of Life's Pleasures Are Only A Rental
Lasting Are The Joys Of 3 So Loving & Gentle

We were born to a feral mom, but we were blessed enough to leave that harsh and usually short life behind; and you would never guess in a million years that we were once part of the wild kingdom. We are extremely affectionate, very sociable, loving, and quite conversational too. When someone enters our foster room there is a mad rush as the 3 of us run to and greet our visitor with a chorus of meows and loud purrs. We keep right on talking to you and purring the entire time you're with us. Playtime is high on our list of favorite things, whether it is with all kinds of toys or with each other. Our black fur has faint tabby striping in it and we each have some white on us, from Carmen with white on her face, chest, and tummy to Curtis with his white belly and the white spot on his chest, to Francie with a faint white mark on her chest. We were 13 weeks old on July 1. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 where Helen is our foster mom.

Cole
"Longing For Someone To Love Heart And Soul?
Well Here I Am And My Name Is Cole"

My name is spelled Cole although if you spelled it Coal that would precisely describe my color, as I am solid black with not a speck of white anywhere in my satiny, ebony coat. I am still a young fellow at 7 years, and I had what I thought was a forever home. But my person developed an allergy that cost me my home. Such things should not happen to nice kitties like me, but I know that they do all the time. I am an affable and easygoing guy who has adjusted well to my foster home and my foster mom's computer room, where I stay. I can tolerate other cats, and even a nice cat friendly dog, but I value having some space. I believe that it's a myth that all sweet cats like to sit on a lap. You couldn't find a more companionable boy than I am, but I prefer sitting or lying next to my person over sitting on a lap. I don't mind at all being brushed, but what really floats my boat is being scratched gently behind the ears and being petted. While my foster mom sits at the computer I stretch out on the floor beside her chair- not so close as to interfere with progress, but close enough to help her if the need arises. I enjoy working out on the corrugated cardboard scratchers that provide good cats like me an acceptable way to exercise our claws. My foster mom calls me just a nice, nice fella. If you are looking for an affectionate and loyal companion to share your days, and nights, and for someone who is past the craziness of kittenhood, I'm just the man for you. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to meet Helen's sweet lad.

Coco

Don't Be The One Left Saying "Uh-Oh"
Because You Didn't Adopt Miss Coco

Not only am I a very sweet and social girl, but I'm uniquely beautiful too. You see, most of the time I look like your average black cat, but when the sun lights up my coat in just the right way I am a rich, dark, chocolate brown. Please note the white "angel's touch" on my chest. I'm still a young lady at about 5-6 years old, old enough to be past the craziness of kitten-hood, but young enough to be with you for many, many years. In my foster home I share space with two other cats and a large dog. While I get along with everyone, I can't say that I have yet warmed up to the cats; but I really enjoy the company of the big pooch. I am gregarious and gentle and will converse with you as you pet me. While I revel in sitting on laps happily purring the day away, I can give you your space too while I gaze at the world outside from my favorite window sill perch or while I take a nice nap. I'm just a nice balance of the best of the very young and those who are more mature, and I just can't wait for my very own forever home with a loving family. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and ask Sandy to tell you all about me.

Special Needs Kitten

Misty
"So Starved & Ill That I Should Have Perished
I Lived- Sure One Day I'd Be Loved & Cherished"

It was Father's Day when I was found in the middle of a road, more dead than alive with both of my eyes matted shut from the drainage seeping from my poor little infected eyes. Flies swarmed around me and I was only hours from departing this world. I was so weak from illness and starvation that I struggled only a tiny bit when caring hands scooped me up off of the pavement. I have gotten the best of veterinary care with treatment for ear mites, intestinal worms, and fleas. I am still receiving treatment for my eye infections, and my right eye was so badly damaged by the virus that it may need to be removed. However, the vet is closely following my progress and all my treatments are being covered. After such an absolutely miserable start to my life you might think that I would be bitter, but I'm not. I'm a mild mannered girl kitten, about 9 weeks old as of 6-27, who just loves to be snuggled. When I am not being lavished with love by Michelle and the rest of my foster family, I delight in finding a quiet corner where I can curl up and cat nap. This thing called air conditioning and soft beds are all new to me, but I have adjusted very quickly to the good life. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 where Helen can answer your questions about Miraculous Misty.

Figaro (Figaro is Adopted!)
Shannon Came To Save 3- Went Home With 10
Her Big Heart Just Wouldn't Let Her Say "When"

CARE foster mommy Shannon and her son Nick came to the pound where we were jailed to rescue 3 kittens. Everywhere they looked there were precious kittens in cages, all with eyes imploring Shannon and Nick to take them with them. You've heard the expression "Say when" when someone is pouring you a drink as their way of asking you to tell them when they have poured enough. Well, Shannon couldn't say "When" and before we knew it 10 of us were in her car and headed to foster care and life. We are about 8 weeks old as of 6-25 and would like to tell you just a little about ourselves.

We are brothers Henry and Harry, who were in a cage with our sisters Juliet and Pumpkin. We are amazingly sweet and loving guys who are very outgoing. Mom says that we are pure fun, just romping and playful boys who are also easy going. We rush to greet visitors, purr big time, and as with most boys we love our food. Henry is white with patch tabby markings; don't you love that brown tabby nose?

We are Romeo and Juliet and mom says that we are such an ideal pair. We look much alike and have very similar and very loving dispositions. Juliet has a kink in her tail, probably from being broken, but the vet says it won't cause her any problems. She is a doll who is very affectionate, as well as beautiful, and like Romeo wants to be where you are. Romeo is a purr monster and delights in being on a lap with Juliet. We are not related, but we are kindred spirits. It was Romeo who reached his paw through the bars of the cage as Shannon was leaving to say "Don't go, me and Filbert need to be saved too!" And we were! Oh, and Romeo's ears are so big that he pulls in more stations than DirecTV.

I'm Halle (short for Halloween as my vibrant fall colors make you think of that day) and my brother is Cheddar. True to my calico genes, I am fearless, independent, and very outgoing. I crave attention though and want to be adored. Cheddar is a quiet, sweet boy, willing to let me do the talking, who is a little bashful but who loves to be held and cuddled. He romps and plays, but also loves nap time; mom says he plays hard and rests well. He loves all the other kittens and would cherish having a kitty playmate in his new home.

I'm Filbert and true to my name I'm a bit of a nut. I'm also very smart. While my cage mate Romeo reached out his paw to Shannon, I meowed very loudly. We knew that the combination was going to be more than she could resist. I'm very playful and just a big lovable goof. I have a big heart and personality, but not bigger than my ears; I have to admit that they are humongous.

I'm Storm, a puff ball of a gray girl. I was in a cage all by myself at the pound and now that I am out of that terrible place I just want to be near you and will follow you around. I'm a combination of pure sweetness and absolute fearlessness, but if you had to find a single word to describe me it would be love.

I'm last, but not least, and my name is Pumpkin. I'm the soft pastel calico sister of Juliet, Harry, and Henry. Mom says that I am just the type of sweet wonderful girl who doesn't come along every day. I'm very playful, even more loving, and the proud owner of a big and soothing purr motor. I'm mostly white with beautiful spots of peach and gray. Mom says that I am an all around great kitten- beauty and sweetness all rolled into one. It was hard for her to get my photo as I was either playing or rubbing on her face.

Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and let Shannon arrange for you to meet us. You'll be glad you did.

Penny (Penny is Adopted!)
Their Mom Gave Life To A Litter Of Ten
There Are No More Precious Ladies & Men

Let us tell you, mom had her paws full with a litter of ten of us with several of us being orphans that our mom took on to raise as her own. We wish that we had a photo of us all together, but if you know what a goat roping is then you know the impossibility of keeping us all still long enough for that photo. We are 8 weeks old as of 6-19 and each of us would like to tell you a tiny bit about ourselves. Our sister Penelope was adopted before she even made it to this web page.

Pan: I am an active, sweet little guy. I love to run and play, and get along great with other kitties and nice dogs. Don't you just love my beautifully striped tail and orange tabby and white markings?

Persephone: Named for the goddess of spring, I think that you can make the connection. I am a beautiful medium haired calico, possessed of a Maine Coon like personality and thriving on attention. I adore being held and am especially attached to my foster mom; I sleep with her at night. I also love my brothers and sisters and delight in playing hide and seek with them.

Pearl: I'm a dainty silver tabby and white girl with fur soft as a bunny's. I'm a sweet, playful kitten who loves to run and play. Spending my days with my siblings and exploring my foster home with them is such fun.

Pascha: I'm a medium haired white and black "cow kitty." "Moo-ow!" I'm a wonderfully affectionate, outgoing, and swell little fella who is sure to please anyone who loves felines. I am very social and outgoing and get along terrifically with other cats and nice dogs.

Padma: Rare indeed is a black kitty with my striking tabby markings, but that's me. I'm going to be a lovely girl when I grow up. I am such a sweetheart, playful, affectionate, and full of life. When I run with my brothers and sisters it looks like a kitty stampede and it's something I love to do.

Petunia and Paisley: We are the calico sisters- now where have you ever seen a lovelier or cuter pair of tri-color girls? We love to play and we love to cuddle; it can be quite the decision as to which to do at any particular time. We would cherish being adopted together and would be a great little ready made cat family, but know that may not be possible.

Pansy: Come on, admit it; my little pink nose and tabby and white markings are irresistible. I am super sweet, social, and above all else cuddly. In fact cuddling with my foster mom is my most beloved thing to do, even more than playing with my siblings. I am a total cuddle bug.

Penny: I'm as sweet as cotton candy, gentle as a lamb and just as soft. I too am a cuddle bug and total lap cat; when I'm finished playing with my brothers and sisters, I adore curling up with my foster mom for a nap. You won't find a girl with more striking or beautiful black tabby stripes and the big "M" on my forehead announces to the world that I'm all tabby. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and ask for Clara- she's our foster mom.

Siddhartha
"Mine Is A Fancy Name But You Can Call Me Sid
After All I'm Just A Gentle & Unpretentious Kid"

I'm extremely friendly, outgoing, and a total lap cat and love bug, about a year old. Just as in my photo, you're likely to find me rushing to see any visitor who comes to see me. If there is room in your life for the very best friend you ever had, I'm your guy. Whew, the grim reaper was bearing down on me in the pound, but CARE got me out of there and I'm eager to go to my forever home. I'm cute as they come, with downy soft white fur and dapper light orange spots. I enjoy playtime and do play well with others- says so right here on my report card. I would flourish in a home with other nice kitties or cat friendly dogs. My best friend in the world is Buddha Cat and can't think of anything better than for the two of us to be adopted together. If that's not possible, I will understand, but you can't blame a guy for wishing. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and ask Clara to tell you all about me..

Buddha
Don't Let This Be Said Of Your Adopting Buddha,
"I Didn't Make Him Mine, But I Sure Shudda"

I'm a very affable, supremely affectionate, outgoing, and sociable fella who just loves to be the center of attention. I'm what is called a patch tabby, with snowy white fur and snazzy brown tabby markings on my tail and the top of my head. Throw in a debonair half mustache and you have one cool looking dude. I'm just about 18 months old and am so grateful for having been rescued from that old kill shelter. I get along famously with everyone and will make a very lucky family a devoted and fun companion and friend. I am crazy about my foster brother Siddhartha so if you are looking for a pair of best boys, here we are. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 where Clara can arrange for us to meet..

Munchkin
Snow Cascaded Down & Winter's Winds Blew
But Except For That We'd Not Be Here For You

To many last winter's snows were a curse; to us they were a blessing. You see, we are two litters of kittens born to moms who had been scheduled for spaying until the snows came and changed everything. Unable to make their all important appointments, the moms had the opportunity to take off gallivanting and we are the results of things not going as planned. We know full well that there are all too many homeless creatures in this world, but we are awfully glad to be here now. Our foster mom says that we are the cutest things ever. There are 9 of us, but 2 of our little gaggle of kittens have already been adopted. My name is Konner and since I am the biggest of our group I have been given the honor of introducing us. I am a very handsome red tabby boy, am full of myself, and am a complete and total love bug. I relish any attention, whether it is from my roommates or from our foster mom.
My brother Keegan is a dark red bull's eye tabby and he too is a wonderfully sweet little guy. He has a gorgeous coat, can be a tad bashful at first introduction, and loves wrestling with his roommates. On the whole, he is a low key kind of fellow.
My sister is Minnieme. She and I are 8 weeks old on 6-19. She is the runt (hope she didn't hear me say that) of our litter and is a petite tortie who is just a whirlwind of energy. For such a tiny girl she can really tackle us bigger guys.
The remaining 4 of us won't be 8 weeks old until June 27, which is when they can go to their new homes. Macen is a dashing guy who loves to chase anything that moves.
Lionel and Logan are a fine pair of uniquely striped boys who are very hard to tell apart. The two scamps are a barrel of laughs, delighting in getting into everything and pouncing on anything in motion.
Last is Munchkin, who is the runt of the younger litter. He is a feisty little guy who has no problem romping and keeping up with the rest of the gang. Apparently no one has told him that he is such a tiny little guy. We are all super sweet, very social and friendly, and frolicsome kittens who would love to grace your home with our unique personalities. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797. Connie is our foster mom and best friend.

The Existence Of Such Sweet Peas In A Pod
Just Serves To Prove That There Is A God

We truly are peas in a pod, identical black darlings. Our foster mom had to place different colored ribbons around our necks in order to tell us apart. Each of us has his or her unique personality, but all of us are precious, sweet, and loving; our human mom kisses on us all the time, so how could we not be? We are about 8 weeks old as of 6-14 and were saved from a kill shelter. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and ask Sandy all about us.

And now for our mini Film Festival. Just click on each clip's title.

Blake
They're Genuine Lovers- There's Nothing Fake
About The Two Dearest Boys Bailey And Jake

We were strangers to each other when we were thrown into a cold hard cage at a kill shelter. Being in such a terrible place cemented our friendship. Rescued, we were whisked away to a foster home. At first it was yet another scary place but we soon found out that the "kitty nursery" had lots of other saved foster kittens and tons of good things like toys, toys and more toys. What more could a kitten ask for except a forever home? I am the more outgoing kitten and go by the name Bailey. False modesty aside I have to say that I have a gorgeous bull's eye pattern coat. I am super sweet and greet my foster mom every morning. I love to play and romp with my kitten mates. My buddy's name is Blake. He is a handsome boy too and sports a great tuxedo jacket. He is still a bit shy but his foster mom has found out that he loves kitty treats and that he will sit up and beg for them. He can be quite feisty with his kitten playmates and holds his own in any wrestling match. He is a regulation play machine with his toys and loves a good romp. We would love to become members of a forever family. Don't you think we could be a purrfect match for yours? We are 9 weeks old as of 6-13 and Connie is our foster mom. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797.

Spirit
The Spirit Of '76 Set This Land Free
"Love Me Forever" Is Our Spirit's Plea

When I came out of that awful pound place I was quite the little ragamuffin, skinny and a bit on the grungy side. My foster mom is working on the weight side of the equation and I am working on the cleanliness side by giving my soft charcoal Russian Blue looking fur hours and hours of baths. I am rapidly becoming the petite princess I was destined to be. I'm such a sweet soul that my foster mom says it is very hard not to kiss me on my pretty little head every time she passes where I am perched. I'm not just good looks though, as I quickly learned how to use the cat door to go out on to the wonderful screened porch at my foster home; a girl has to have brains to go along with charm and an adorable face. I am fine with other cats once I have had a few days to determine that they are not going to hurt me. I'm only about a year old and Helen is my foster mom. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797.

Update: With only a short while in my foster home I have discovered the absolute joy of a lap and have become the purest lap cat my mom has ever known. She has a hard time convincing me and herself that lap time is over so that she can get her kitty duties done.

Nina
'Bye To The Pinta & Santa Maria-Here's Nina Girl
Now, Voyage Together To A Grand New World

I'm an elegant young lady cat, about 7 months old as of 6-9, who looks like a miniature because I am so petite. My frame is lanky with the softest ebony fur and a touch of white on my chest. While I am very playful, overall I am a calm girl with a sweet and gentle nature. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and Helen can tell you my entire story.

Carol (Carol is Adopted!)
Life's Stresses & Strains Got You Over A Barrel?
Here's The Purrfect Remedy- Adam, Burt & Carol

We three are 9 weeks old as of 6-7 and are sweet and social baby cats. We would each like to say a few words about ourselves.

Adam: Working at the computer? Let me press the keys. Reading the paper? I'll hold the pages down for you. Watching TV? I'll plop in your lap to entice you to pet me. I'll not only help you with your chores, I'll help you relax and mellow out when you're done. I'm willing to bet that you will wonder how you ever managed without me. I love to play with other kitties of all sizes, am very good with dogs and children, and would love to go home with someone who I can snuggle with.
Burt: Do you seek affection? Well, I sure do! If you are into petting, purrs, and paws kneading your lap, we have a lot in common. I'm looking for someone who enjoys quiet times and togetherness? Could that someone be you?
Carol: Did I just see a "Help Wanted- Lap Kitty" sign? If that's what you've posted, I'm the girl for you. I'm a snuggle bug and as sweet and irresistible as a warm cinnamon roll. Could be that your lap and I were made for each other.

Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797- Debbie H is our foster mom and Sandy is the CARE volunteer you will want to talk to about us.

Stash & Skye
You Only Have To See Their Sweet Faces
To Know What's Here Is A Pair Of Aces

We are brother (Stash) and sister (Skye), about 9 weeks old as of 6-9, who were rescued from a kill shelter. Our foster mom says that she is at a loss for words to describe how adorably sweet and cute we are. Fortunately a picture often really is worth a thousand words, so we hope that our photos will tell you how wonderful we are. If that won't do, please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and ask Kim J to give you our biographies.

Rose (Rose is Adopted!)

Joe

Jack

Bobby

Teddy
You'll Fall In Love With Our Feline Clan
For There Are None More Special Than…

Our little family is about 8 weeks old as of 6-5 and we are known as the Kennedy kittens. We are very, very sociable and don't hesitate to greet anyone and to clamber up on top of them. We purr constantly to the point that our vet found it hard to listen to us with his stethoscope because of the loud rumbles coming from us. We are full of spunk and would welcome homes with other kittens or cats. Now each of us would like to tell you a little about ourselves. Oh, you can watch our video too by clicking HERE.

Rose: Looks can be deceiving, but not in my case. I'm a longer haired pastel calico who is as sweet as I look. I meow a lot to my foster mom, but I don't think she quite understands what I am saying. I'm a little fluff ball and that makes me seem larger than my brothers, but I'm actually the second smallest of the group. I delight in playing with my brothers and climbing our tall scratching post.

Joe: I'm the biggest of us kittens. My solid gray fur is very thick and plush and my little round tummy is evidence that I really love my babycat kibble, even going so far as to plant my feet in the food bowl while I eat. I love to climb and romp with my brothers and sister too. I meow occasionally, but only when I have something important to say.

Jack: I'm the little black and white guy, second largest of the family. Now I enjoy my food too, but my manners are more polished than my brothers. I love to roughhouse with my siblings, but really enjoy some quiet time being petted while I look up lovingly into my foster mom's face.

Bobby: I'm the little gray and white ball of fire. I can scoot through a door quicker than the eye can behold and I'm absolutely fearless. When I do manage to evade mom and escape from our kitten room I walk confidently down the hallway with my little tail high in the air ready to explore. I revel in climbing on to a lap where I play king of the mountain and try to keep the others from joining me; it's a game I don't lose very often.

Teddy: I'm the smallest of the boys. My tabby and white markings are quite handsome, don't you think? I pay no attention to my stature and delight in jumping on top of my bigger siblings. I also enjoy climbing on to shoulders to survey my surroundings. What better perch to do that than my person's shoulders? I really like big cats too and will walk along beside them hoping to get their attention. Mom says that maybe it's because I miss my mother since I am the baby of the family. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797- Chris is our foster mommy.

Lily
Life's Path Can Be So Rocky & Hilly
So Smooth Your Way With The Love Of Lily

Hello there! I am a 1-2 year old black lady kitty. I was rescued from the pound when my six kittens were just 2 weeks old. I was a very loving, caring, and devoted mom. My babies were all adopted to fantastic homes and now it's my turn to join the forever family that will cherish me as I deserve. No more babies for me, as the feline version of Planned Parenthood has seen to it that I don't have to worry about that ever again. As you can see, my jet black fur is very sleek and beautiful. I'm told I have amazing eyes too! I delight in being petted and will reward you with hugs and lots of purring. I have a calm temperament, but I do like to "cut loose" once in a while with my feather toy. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and ask Sue to make the match that will pay dividends for many years.

Melody
If You Pass Her By, It Won't Be A Felony
But What A Crime To Lose Out On Melody

In the world of cats, who we know are all beautiful, we brown tabbies are always in fashion and perfect for any occasion. I'm a 4 year old classic gentlecat who is pretty low keyed and who delights in following my person around. My help with your work may consist only of benign supervision, but I think you will find me a tremendous asset anyway. I revel in sitting quietly with my human friends, show my affection enthusiastically, and am in general just a wonderful companion. I prefer a quieter environment, but really don't most of us? Pease call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and ask Sue to introduce us.

Smokey
"I Don't Spot Fires, That's Not My Play
That Bear Is Over Hyped Anyway"

I'm a silver tabby boy with an undetermined degree of Maine Coon ancestry. You can see in my handsome ear tufts and plush fur that my forebears probably lived above the Mason Dixon line. I'm only about 1 to 2 years old and in my former life, which I'm doing my best to forget, someone was not nice to me. So I need a soft touch, a gentle hand, and an understanding and compassionate guardian. I'm a gentle soul, affectionate, and can hold my own with the best purrers in the land. I'm a bit of a character my mom says; I am no enigma though, as I'm an upfront fellow who will always be honest with you. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 for Sandy's fine fellow.

Pharaoh
"I'm A Devoted Friend, A Veritable Love Child
Anyone I Can't Charm Has To Be In De Nile"

I'm a 2 year old tabby boy whose Abyssinian like ticked fur gives him the looks of a cougar. My mom says that I am very dog like, whatever that means, but I think she's saying that I am very special. I'm very sociable, active, and curious, always wanting to be in the middle of things and hoping to get lots of pets and attention. I can carry on a darned good conversation too and don't mind giving you my slant on the issues of the day. I am chock full of purrsonality and will grab your heart in an instant if you give me the chance. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 for Sue's noble guy.

Stella
How To Sum Up The Charms Of Stella?
Well, She's Perfect For Every Gal & Fella

I'm a unique 9 month old lass whose patch tabby fur is bunny soft. Just get a load of my big fluffy raccoon-like tail. I am somewhat bashful when I first meet you, but once we have gotten to know each other I am quite the little princess with maybe a soupcon of diva thrown in for good measure. Like many beauties, I feel most comfortable when I'm in charge and any reasonable person would have to be fine with that. My favorite things in life are my feather toys and gentle people. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797, talk with Sue, and yell "Stella!"

L'il Ned
What's The Best Thing Since Sliced Bread?
Why It's A Loving Fellow Called L'il Ned

When I was rescued I had open wounds around my neck, but I'm completely healed now and looking quite dapper if I do say so myself. Only about 1 ½ years old as of 11-8, I'm a friendly and playful fellow who would do fine with other nice cats like myself. My foster mom's older cats tend to bully me so I keep my distance from them, but I think that's just being prudent. I revel in lap napping and being petted. I'm also a tremendous help around the house as I enjoy helping my foster mom make the bed and assisting her with reading the daily newspaper. One of my favorite toys is the circle with the ball in it that goes around and around when I give it a good whack. It's called a TurboScratcher. To summarize, I'm just a very nice and neat guy who will make a lucky family a loving and devoted companion. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and be sure to ask about Kathryn's sweet foster boy.

Charlotte

"How Long Have We? No One Has The Answer
All I Can Say Is That I Once HAD Cancer"

My foster mom and I had almost given up hope. I had a cancer of the eye area and my future looked grim. But my charming and sweet personality convinced her that something had to be done to give me a chance to live out my life. So surgery was scheduled in which my eye was removed along with much of the skin around it. As you can see in my photo, my other eye is big and bright and will suffice quite nicely. I am spry and full of life, even though I have reached the matronly age of 13, and I have not missed a beat because of it. My vet is optimistic that he got all of the cancer and I am too. As with all of us, there are no guarantees as to how long I will be here; but I'm hoping that there is someone out there willing to accept my love and devotion and allow me to have a grand life for the rest of my days. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 about Helen's sweet Charlotte.

Nick

"Totally Healed From A Broken Pelvis
I'm So Glad They Didn't Name Me Elvis"

I was hit by a car and taken by Henrico Animal Control to a vet. The intent was to have me humanely "put to sleep," but the vet recognized my goodness and gentle nature and just could not do that. I was blessed in that the fracture did not require surgery, but I had to rest and recuperate for the next 30 days to allow it to heal. Heal it did and now I'm good as gold. I'm a very social, easygoing, and gregarious fellow who delights in being with people. As an added bonus I am also fine with other cats. Hardly more than a kitten at around 10 months of age, I will have many, many years to share with you. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 for Sandy's dove gray guy.

Penny

'Tis Said A Penny Saved Is A Penny Earned
Penny Has Much Love To Give- Lesson Learned

A Penny for your thoughts? Actually, I would be a Penny for your heart. I'm a strikingly beautiful brown tabby girl, about 4-5 years old. I hope that when we first are introduced you will forgive my initial bashfulness, for I rapidly warm up and become very social. I retain my sense of play and my affinity for cuddling is colossal. I can think of few things more special than sitting in my person's lap to watch a little TV. Take me home and I promise that this one Penny investment will return extraordinary dividends. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and ask Sue to introduce us.

Tommy Longtail

You'd Have To Be Very Deep In Your Ale
Not To Realize The Worth Of Tommy Longtail

What a silly name for a perfectly dignified gentleman cat! My foster mom tells me that I am very special and I guess that having a perfectly designed tail is part of my resume. My life got off to a very rocky start as I was left to fend for myself from the time that I was a small kitten. I was able to ally with some other nice felines and we formed our own little cat family. A lady had been feeding us and then one bitterly cold winter's night 7 of us were crammed into 3 carriers and deposited on my foster mom's doorstep. I thought that I was going to freeze as we shivered the night away and waited for the morning sun and our being discovered. And rise it did as we were taken into a warm house overflowing with good food, love and attention. I'm now ready for my own home; I would love to stay with mom, but she needs room for the less fortunate cats and kittens of which there seems to be an endless supply. Mom says that I am quite the handsome fellow with my lustrous ebony fur with spots of white (the angel's touch) on my chest and stomach. My manners are impeccable and my nature is gentle. I'm just over a year old and while I may seem a bit bashful at first meeting, I much enjoy being held and stroked. You will find that the perfect means to lower blood pressure, both yours and mine. For a big robust guy I have the softest voice and mom laughs at me when I meow. I'm in great health now and don't mind letting my playful side emerge as I play with my toys. I'd love to share home and heart with you and promise to return your loyalty and love tenfold. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and ask Helen to fill in any gaps in my biography.

Alison

How Could It Not Be Love At First Sight
When You Meet The Lass In Tabby & White?

I'm full grown at about 2 years, but am so petite that you might think I'm still a baby. I think that my tabby markings combined with the white on my face, chest, and legs make me uniquely beautiful. But then my CARE friend says that all cats are beautiful, each in its own way. Hard to argue with that. I get along quite well with other cats and mom says that I am so very loving and cuddly that I am a joy to be around. Can't argue with that either. I stay busy in my foster home making a new life, but what I really want is to settle into my forever home. I am just a very nice lady cat. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to meet Helen's foster girl.

Noah

Old Noah Filled His Ark Two By Two
Big Noah Could Be The One For You

All in all, in spite of my life's ups and downs (I'm about 2 now), I am quite the lucky guy. A lady was driving along Rt. 288 behind another vehicle when to her disbelieving eyes she saw a cat fly out of its window. She found a place to turn around as soon as you could and returned to the scene of the crime. She searched for 3 hours before she finally spotted the terrified cat, which by now you likely have guessed was me. In spite of my fear I let her catch me and we were off to the vet to have me checked out. It's a miracle that I was not injured, but I'm fine. I am a big strapping guy at about 18 pounds who can be a bit timid when I first meet new people. Given my experience I think you can understand a little reticence on my part. My experience has not left me bitter or mean; to the contrary I am very, very gentle and sweet natured. You can see apprehension in my eyes initially, but after a good brushing or love session you can see my body relax as I give in to the good feelings. I get along well with the two lady cats who share my foster room. Please come to meet me and I think you will fall for my big handsome brown tabby face, exotic stripes, and wonderfully affectionate disposition. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 for Helen's magnificent man.

Onyx

To Life's Woes How Few Are The Tonics
Comparable To The Love & Devotion Of Onyx

I am a deep ebony except for perhaps a dozen or so white hairs under my chin. I am long and lanky with fairly close set eyes that give me a regal look and wide set ears that my mom says remind her of E.T. I am only about 2 years old and when I first came to my foster home there was a deep sadness within my gold eyes. No one had ever loved me, but now I am cherished and I just can't get enough affection and love. I delight in climbing up on to the bed for my daily scratches and rubdowns. I get along well with the 10 to 15 cats that I share a suite with, although I occasionally will hiss to let one of them know they're invading my personal space. I have big soft paws and am just one affectionate being. Once we bond I don't think you will ever want to be very far from me and I know that I will feel the same way. Mom says that I deserve for the rest of my days to be cushy and who am I to argue with her? Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and ask Helen about her precious gem.

Joe

"Everyone Needs A Friend, A Buddy, A Bro
Here I Am- I'm Not Just Your Average Joe"

My medium length charcoal gray fur is kind of pathetic right now. I am recovering from a horrible flea infestation that left me with some dermatitis. The meds I'm getting and no longer being exposed to those nasty biting little buggers will have me back to my normally handsome self soon I think. I am about 3 years old with personality just coming from every pore of my body. I am calm, sweet, and gentle, wanting nothing more than love and attention from my people. Don't let my rather tiny, high pitched squeak of a voice fool you; I am a good sized fellow. I do well with other cats and love the cat I am currently rooming with. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797- my foster mom is Helen.

SPECIAL NEEDS KITTY

Bobbles

A Loving Forever Home- Hard For Me To Conceive
A Safe Haven Where I Can Live & Bob & Weave

I'm a 9 month old special needs kitten who was born with neurological damage, which causes me to shake and wobble and which creates difficulty for me when it comes to using the litter box. Due to that damage I will never make the dean's list and it is hard for me to put weight on my rear legs, but what it doesn't do is keep me from getting around and from being a total sweetheart. All I want from life is to play, and to be loved and petted. I adore being with people, especially children, and I play well with other cats. There are others who have wanted to give up on me, but my foster mom says that since I am not uncomfortable or in pain she can't do that. I am a loving, purring gentle spirit and I just have to pray that there is someone out there with much love and patience to give to someone special like me. We all have our flaws and I hope that some imperfect person will decide to save a kindred soul. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797; you will want to talk with Christy S. as I'm sure you will have many questions.

Dutchess
'Tis Said In The Eye Of The Beholder Lies Beauty
So Feast Your Eyes On This Calico Cutie

My brothers, also on this page, are Tom & Jerry. Our 96 year old human mom reached the point where she had to go into an assisted living home and we could not go with her. She has 4 adult children, but can you believe not one of the ingrates could be bothered to provide a loving home for the cats that their mother loved so much? An arbitrary deadline of a week was established, after which we were destined for a kill shelter. Thankfully, CARE stepped in and is going to find homes for all of us. I am a beautiful dark calico with snowy white chest and socks and big, luminous golden eyes. Just like my brothers I am quite the sweetheart, get along with everyone, and am very laid back. Cat aficionados will tell you that often those traits are not synonymous with calico kitties. Also like my bros I never had toys so our foster mom is trying to teach us what toys and play are. I'm the purrfect companion, waiting here for that special person to make me theirs. I'm just 7 to 8 years old and my foster mom is Sandy. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797.

Marlo
"A Guy So Nice Should Be Cherished & Prized
Instead I Was Pink Slipped And Down Sized"

Hello, my name is Marlo! I am a 3 year old buff Maine Coon kitty. You'll likely notice it in my photo, but never mind my right eye; it was hurt when I was a baby. I don't see out of it much at all, but I do just fine with the other one. I spent the first 3 years of my life as an office kitty. I loved everyone there and then one day someone, who didn't like me, bought the business. He was mean and tormented me, so I got laid off... err... I mean rescued. Boy, am I glad about that! I am doing so much better and now share a new office with my foster mom who works from home. I enjoy greeting her at the door, sitting on my perch looking out the window at my Kingdom and snoozing on a soft blanket on the desk. She says she's going to teach me to type and make copies... whatever that means!? I love to play with my toys and would never even think about biting or scratching anyone. I'm a true gentle soul. I am still a little shy, but I warm up once I feel safe. I would love to find a nice home with gentle owners who could appreciate all the love I have to give. Please call our matchmaker, Sue @ (804) 288-9797 and let's get together!

Zoe
Scrumptious As A Cinnamon Roll- Just Not As Doughy
The Purrfect Blend Of Sugar & Spice- That's Miss Zoe!

I'm only about 3 years old, but what a journey it has been. Having been hit by a car and found lying beside the road, I was brought to a local pound; I was in just terrible shape, unable to put any weight on one of my back legs and extremely emaciated. I was given vet care, placed in a loving foster home to recuperate, and given lots of vitamin supplements. I was finally on the mend when I needed to go back to the vet for routine vaccinations and a checkup. I was already spayed, but somehow (this is how my luck has been) I was mistakenly set up for a spay appointment. During this procedure my leg was reinjured and I was in for another period of recuperation. Finally, after 2 years in foster care, I am doing great. Aside from a bit of a hitch in my gait, you would never know that I had had a leg injury. I am able to jump, walk, run, and play just like any other kitty- I just have a limp when I walk. I cherish lying in laps and love head and cheek rubs. I'm a very sweet girl, but I must confess to a couple of quirks; I don't care for children or for other pets. While I have been in foster care with other cats and have tolerated them, I would much prefer to be in a home with one other cat or less. When you have a Zoe, why would you want or need other cats anyway? Please give me my loving forever home. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and Janet knows my story.

Polly
"Polydactyle Sounds Prehistoric, Lord Knows
But, It Just Means That I Have Extra Toes"

I am a 6 month old (as of 1-24) graduate of the School of Hard Knocks and the Caroline Co. pound. Like many of the cats who reside at the Ernest Hemingway home in Key West, I am a polydactyle. Hemingway cats are often called mitten cats because our extra toes give us the look of wearing mittens or catcher's mitts. I was somewhat shy and bashful at first, but after a little time in foster care I am coming around and quickly coming to love this thing called being petted. I am extraordinarily sweet and gentle, even enjoying having my belly rubbed; cat connoisseurs know that allowing one's belly to be petted is a sign of a trusting and affable nature. I am fond of other cats and get along nicely with my foster mom's cat friendly dogs. My foster mom Janet says that I am one honey of a cat,
Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797.

Mr. Whiskers
Listen To Your Heart When To You It Whispers,
"Embrace This Guy Named Mr. Whiskers"

I'm a good sized lovable guy, almost twice as large as my brothers Batman and Superman. From my exquisite copper eyes to my Yosemite Sam whiskers, I am quite the handsome lad at just 8 to 9 months of age (as of 2-11). My foster mom Helen absolutely adores me and tells me that I am one of the sweetest and most loving kittens she has ever fostered. That's saying something indeed since she has fostered more cats than you could even imagine. I am moderately active, but never frenetic or crazy. While gentle as a lamb, I still enjoy playtime when it is appropriate. I guess you could call me an easy cat- easy in the best sense of the word. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 for the start of a beautiful friendship.

Virginia Ann

Countless Are The Charms Of Virginia Ann
To Know Her Is To Be Her Instant Fan

As many of you out there probably realize, life is often not fair. When my family's daughter came home and brought her cat with her I was the object of abuse by the aggressive beast (the cat). The solution, and here you will see the unfairness that I mentioned, was to get rid of me! I was devastated and for days in my foster home I hid under a table and would not eat. With the love of my foster mom I have left all that behind and am once again well adjusted, loving, and a joy to be around. My favorite spot in my foster home is a loveseat where my long white fur glistens in the afternoon sun. In certain lights you can see a very pale orange cast to my coat in places and on the top of my head is a very faint gray beauty mark. But what you notice first when you look into my face is my enormous and gentle gold eyes. I have a glorious purr which starts the moment your hand comes near me and it doesn't stop until you do. I am great with other nice and friendly cats. I'll play with many types of things- moving strings and the like being special favorites. Mom says that I am a wondrous cat, beautiful, nice, fun, and loving. I'm about 7 years young. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to learn more about Helen's huggable girl.

Emily Grace

Like Contestants In "The Amazing Race"
They'll Be Rushing To Win Emily Grace

I would never dream of disputing my foster mom on anything, so when she tells me that torties are the abstract art masterpieces of the feline world I certainly won't argue with her about that. Months ago in the heart of winter I and six other cats were abandoned in 3 small carriers. We were outside all night terrified and cold. Our foster mom took us in and with months of love, good food, and warm beds, we have all blossomed. Three of my friends have found wonderful homes and I hope someone finds my beauty and sweet purrsonality irresistible. My fur is now sleek and shiny and I confess that I have put on a bit of weight. I tend to be a tad on the bashful side, but I revel in being around other cats and people. Even dogs don't bother me as long as they don't try to nip me. My house manners are impeccable and I'm just an all around loving baby (less than 1 1/2 years old) girl. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 for Dianne's darling.

Rose
A Rose By Any Other Name Would Smell As Sweet
This Gentle Rose Will Sweep You Off Your Feet

When I was rescued from the pound, a place for the record that is way beneath a lovely genteel tortie lady like me, the bottoms of my feet had been burned according to the vet by something either hot or very cold. I have erased what happened from my memory bank, but I can say that the life I had experienced for a while was quite harsh. I was bony and anemic too when I came to CARE. Now with wonderful care in my foster home I am filling out and healed, body and soul. I am a very sweet child of about 4 to 5 years who craves and appreciates attention and who will reach up to you with a soft paw to invite some loving. I am beautiful, if I may be so immodest, and will make someone just a very devoted, loving companion and confidante. I should add that other cats do not please me and I will be much happier as an only cat. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 for Sandy's girl.

Coby

Whether Frame, Brick, Stone, Or Adobe
Your Home’s Not Complete Without A Coby

First of all I want to state that I am NOT a grouchy guy. I have always been very friendly and sweet with adults and strangers, but a new factor has entered the equation. My human parents now have a 7 month old baby who crawls after me and drives me to distraction. So it has been decided that it would be best for me to have a loving new, and forever, home where neither of us is in harm's way. I am a handsome lad of 3 years, turning 4 on May 1st, who was adopted from CARE when I was just 7 weeks old. I am a laid back, no trouble kind of cat who enjoys spending time in a chair or ottoman by a window engaged in quiet contemplation of the goings on outside. When a squirrel or bird gets close, that's really neat. I am sociable, coming to my person for some petting or a treat, but I am also happy just being curled up in the same room with you and content just to be near you. I love to play with my Turboscratcher toy and to put my cat tree to good use for scratching or napping. By the way, my cat tree goes with me to my new home. In short I am a good guy who circumstances have caused to lose my happy home. I do well with people in general and I live in harmony with the other cat in our home- but I just can't tolerate being hassled by that short-legged human. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and ask Sandy or Helen to arrange for us to meet- we'll both be glad that you did.

There's No Greater Joy Than A Sweet Orange Kitty
CARE Presents Cheryl,Hannah,And Smitty
(from right to left)

Smitty

Hannah (Adopted!)

Smitty AND Hannah- All Smiles With Each Other

Cheryl (Cheryl is Adopted!)

Hi, my name is Smitty (about 10 months old as of 4-20) and I have been elected spokes cat for the 3 of us. We and 17 others (which CARE found out later was 19 others) were cared for by a man who made some bad decisions in life and has ended up going to jail. Our dad has made mistakes, but he cared for us and he wept at the thought that we would be killed because no one wanted us. CARE has taken all 22 of us, including quite a few lady cats who were pregnant. 3 of them gave birth within a day or two of being rescued by CARE. It is sad, but the others were aborted because they were early in their pregnancies and there just are not enough loving homes for all their kittens. I am on the quiet side and am likely to be frightened until I get to know you. But once I know that I can trust you and am safe in your care, what a supreme lover I am and quite the lap cat too! I am used to having lots of cat friends and I particularly would love to be with Hannah or Cheryl, my good friends from my previous life. I have short fur but, as with most orange cats, it is glorious, very thick and soft as powdered sugar. Speaking of sugar, that's what I am. Now my girls will tell you about themselves.

My name is Cheryl (age 10 months to 1 year as of 4-22) and I may just have the softest fur you have ever touched. My color is unique; a light orange that borders on being buff and it is almost solid with very few tabby stripes. I have beautiful eyes and when I gaze lovingly up at you, it will be awfully hard for you not to melt. My foster mom says that I seem to be looking into her soul. I am a love bug who is attracted to a lap like a fat man to an all you can eat buffet. I am very petite and trim, and even though a couple of pounds wouldn't hurt me, at present I'm more interested in being loved on than eating. Do you know how rare true friends are in this life? Well, if you adopt me you will have just that and you will wonder how you ever managed before we became family. If you will share your heart with me, I'll move right in and never leave.

Hey there, I'm Hannah, one beautiful and petite orange and white girl. My foster mom calls me a joy, and who am I to argue with her? I love my feather wands and toy mice, but my very favorite thing is to lie beside or on top of my person and then take a quiet nap. I'm just a very special girl with a basic sweetness to my personality. With my colors, I'm the feline, and non-caloric, version of a creamsicle. I'm only about a year old, so we will have many, many years to share with one another.

Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and Helen can tell you all about her foster babies.

Mona

This Mona Has No Enigmatic Expression
She's A Delight- There Is No Question

I'm only about 18 months old, but I have already raised a family. My kittens were adopted over the Christmas holidays and I'm looking forward to the next chapter in my life. It's the chapter where the black and white kitty rides off into the sunset with the family that will cherish her for the rest of her days. A quiet and gentle home would be ideal for me, as I am not fond of the noise and antics of young children- I had enough of that with my own kids. I have playfulness in me and have a real affection for the company of people. As you go about the house engaged in your daily activities I'll often be by your side to offer moral support, guidance, and even gentle constructive criticism when I see you are slipping up in your work. I'm ready to settle down; could you be my soft place to fall? Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 for Sue's baby girl.

Dimka
"I Need A New Home," She Said With A Sigh
"Please Read My Story And I'll Tell You Why"

At the still young age of 6 I find myself in search of a new home. You see, my brother died a few months ago of cancer and his death caused me much grief and changed the dynamic of our home. Of course I got along well with him, but I just can't get along with the other cat in our home. I don't know if I would have such differences with another cat or not since my experience has been limited to my brother and this "other" cat. I guess it would depend on the personality of my new housemate. If you are seeking an only child, then none of this matters. I am very sweet and while I am not a big lap cat, I delight in being wherever you are. My name is Russian for smoke and it's very appropriate for a medium-haired gray lady cat. I do love to have my luxurious fur brushed every day. My idea of a purrfect day is sleeping quietly in the sun followed by some intent bird watching from my window perch. When you return home I'll greet you at the door and would enjoy telling you about my day and hearing about yours. I admit that certain toys bring out my playful side and if you have stairs in your home I get a kick, and some good exercise, out of running up and down them. I prefer a home without small children, but I could indulge a nice cat friendly pooch. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and ask Helen or Sandy to tell you more about me.

Callie

"My Wish: Soft Words & Caresses On My Head
A Loving Forever Home With A Big Soft Bed"

I was abandoned in the cold and snow and might have perished if my friend Marie had not taken me into her warm home. I was so totally alone and scared, but with some tender love and care from Marie I now want to be held and petted. When you've been cast out like I was it can take a little time for the psychological wounds to heal, but I'm young at only about 8 months and have bounced back nicely. Of course it will take a bit of time for me to adjust to my forever home, but I will. I like other animals and even try to play with my doggie sister's tail, although that's not exactly a big hit with her. Marie rescued a FIV positive kitty named Moses about 6 years ago; he's very territorial and rules this house, so he might hurt me if we are together. He's a big dude too! FIV is not easy to catch, but a deep bite wound can infect the one bitten, so Moses and I must be kept apart. Marie loves me so much and would give anything to keep me. Because of Moses I have to be confined to a small bathroom until she can find me a forever home where I will have the run of the house and be treated like gold. I'm gentle, lovable, appropriately playful, and have impeccable house manners. A home with young active children would not be the best for me since at present I am on the bashful side. I think that my photo does a great job of showing off my beautiful pastel calico colors and my ravishing and loving green eyes. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797- Dianne is the one you need to speak with about my adoption.

Molly (Teen) (Molly is Adopted)

Polly (Teen)
Do You Know What Would Be Pure Folly?
Missing Out On The Love Of Polly & Molly

Hi, I'm Molly. My sister Polly and I were entrusted to a rescuer who unfortunately wasn't able to devote the time and energy to us that we deserved. Consequently our development was slowed, but happily we are now with an experienced and conscientious foster parent who has taught us so many good things. That includes learning to play and to purr and to cuddle. Actually the purring came to me very easily once I felt safe and loved. When I first arrived here I had an upper respiratory infection or, as I like to call it, a kitty cold. So I had to spend 2 weeks in isolation so that the other kittens would not catch anything from me. That was scary and sad for me because I am social and wanted to be where the action was. Now that I am back with the rest of the crew I love to play with all the other kittens. We have a wonderfully tall cat tree in our room and I'm usually the first to reach its top. I have about 10 cat friends and we have the run of 2 screened porches (when it's not too cold) and 3 rooms, plus we get lots of attention from our foster mom. Now that I feel totally secure my favorite thing in life is to crawl under the bed covers at night or nap time and sleep beside my person or under the little tent that the covers make. Every time Mom even looks at the bed I come running in the hope that it is "under the covers" time. It's great! I am a lovely and loving 8 month old (as of 2-3) sweetheart.

I'm Polly. Don't you love all the exotic Bengal like spots in my soft dove gray tabby fur? I'm just a social butterfly who loves everyone and everything. I romp and play, eat and sleep to restore my energy, and then play some more. And even better, I am a low maintenance kind of girl who delights in carrying a plain old balled up piece of paper around in my mouth. I drop it, give it a bat, retrieve it, and then run with it some more.

Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797- Helen can tell you all about us.

Mary

She's Soft As Down, Sweet And Purry
There's Just Something About Mary

After spending many weeks in a kill shelter and praying for rescue the whole time I was there, CARE came for me just as my time was up. As terrifying as that was for me, I came through the experience extremely well adjusted and able to maintain my kindly and genial nature. My color is pastel tortoiseshell and my fur is as soft as powdered sugar, so soft in fact that my foster mom cannot stop petting me. Well, when that happens what's a girl to do? Of course I snuggle, knead bread, and purr my little one year old head off. In spite of my cover girl good looks, I am not one to strike a pose or have a catitude. I am just a very gentle soul, good with other cats and nice children. I haven't been around dogs, but I see no reason why I could not live peacefully with a cat friendly pooch. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to make Helen's sweet muffin yours.

Claire
Her Last Minutes Fleeting, Down To A Final Prayer
CARE Came To Save Sweet, Gentle Claire

Just before I was to die in that horrible pound CARE came for me and the 5 others whose lives were to be extinguished that day. It is a pound in which the unfortunates incarcerated there are given just a few days to be adopted. Then, even if there is room for them to stay in the pound, they are put down when their allotment of time has expired. I am safe and loved in my foster home and now await the start of my new life. I have a very pretty white vest and face mask, the most gorgeous pearly white teeth, and a precious pink nose that my foster mom says reminds her of a bunny rabbit's. Only about 1 to 2 years old, I am a total lap kitty who is fine with other cats and who purrs constantly. Pet me and the purring begins, never to stop until you do. I am a lovely girl who will make a lucky family a wonderful companion and faithful friend. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and ask my foster mom Helen all about me.

Stryper (Teen)

Stryper's Stripe
Engage Her In Polite Conversation
You'll Adopt Her Without Reservation

I am an 8 month old (as of 1-20) brown tabby baby girl. True to my name I have beautiful striped markings, but I also have sporty black spots on my back and sides. I am quite the conversationalist and readily answer back when you talk to me. I revel in being petted and stroked, as you will see when I arch my back up into your caressing hand. Being picked up and cuddled is grand. Other than that, after exhausting myself romping very hard with my toys, my favorite pastime is to perch in the window to observe the activities of the birds and squirrels outside. It is wonderful to be safe and cared for inside, able to enjoy the outdoors without being exposed to its dangers.

Roulette (Roulette is Adopted)

Blackjack

Casino (Casino is Adopted)
Their Names Aside, There's Just No Chance
That You Won't Fall In Love At First Glance

When we were saved we were barely surviving by eating out of a dumpster. Not exactly fine cuisine let us tell you, but when you are just a kitten and have no friends or family to help you out you are awfully glad to have even that.
Roulette: I'm about 8 months old (as of 12-28) and although Casino and I are from different litters I feel as though she is my sister. We are both lovely tortoiseshells. I have very large, expressive eyes and a downy soft and plush coat. I am still somewhat reserved at this point, but I absolutely love being petted and caressed, purring very loudly to show how much I enjoy it. The company of the other kittens is a real comfort to me and I try to lie as close as possible to them. I didn't have the company of my mom for very long, so this is probably my way of making up for that loss. My favorite hobbies are playing with my toys and looking out of the window with my new pal Spidey.
Update:When I and the other kittens were first trapped I was the one with the attitude. My, what miracles some time in a loving foster home can bring about! I now cherish being petted and I like to be stroked from head to toe. My purr is so loud that it sounds like a very soothing motorboat has entered the room. Just like Casino, I absolutely love the company of other cats and constantly seek to rub up against them to express my affection. I enjoy the dinner plate and have gained quite a bit of needed weight since my "dumpster days." Probably my favorite toy is the wand, even if I get one that's well used and no longer has anything attached to its end.
For my early video with my pal Spidey, please click HERE.
For a video of me romping with Casino, please click HERE.

Blackjack: My sister Roulette and I are about 8 months old as of 12-28. You would never know by looking at my sleek, silky self that when I was rescued I was horribly ill with an upper respiratory infection that nearly took my life. A trip to the emergency vet and weeks of careful doctoring have cured me completely and I am the picture of health. Because I had such difficulty breathing when I was a baby I couldn't play very much, but now I am a big strapping fellow who lives to eat and play with my sister and my fellow foster cats. I have a quiet, gentle nature and am on the bashful side, but I cherish lying on laps and being petted. I settle in and purr and purr, kneading with my soft paws all the while.
I have my very own video, although I do share it with my friend Opie. Please click HERE to see it.

Casino: I am a 4 1/2 month old (as of 11-12) tortoiseshell girl who is adventurous and very affectionate. I love to be petted and having my belly rubbed is a special treat as you can see in my video. I am very petite and have quite unusual markings in that there appears to be a lighter colored band encircling the middle of my body. I have touches of orange in my fur that look like they were applied with an artist's brush; very appropriate for a work of art, don't you think? I'm a laid back lass who likes to just relax and watch the other kittens play. A soft comfy bed is a special delight, especially given the life I lived prior to my rescue.
Update: I am now quite the talker and my purr is loud and reliable. I delight in having my belly rubbed and sleeping in my little pink "princess" bed. I love other cats and particularly enjoy hanging out with Roulette.

Jonathan A/K/A Dream Boy

Anna (Anna is Adopted)

Rusty (Teen) (Rusty is Adopted!)

Rusty & Jonathan
Although We Were Abandoned & Forsaken
Our Gentle Spirits Remain Strong & Unshaken

Six of us were crammed in just two cat carriers and abandoned at a local store. We cowered inside the carriers as we did not know where we were or what was going to happen to us. Blessedly CARE was on the case and whisked us away to a warm and comfortable foster home. Already 3 of us have found good forever homes and now we hope that it's our turn. We'll each tell you a little about ourselves.

Dream Boy: I prefer to think of my CARE moniker as a compliment rather than just my name and I hope that my forever family will give me a permanent one once they get to know me. I'm only about 6 months old and abandonment has been rougher on me than on the other 5. I was a bit reticent at first, but I am rapidly coming around and responding to the love I receive in foster care. My fear is melting away like a dusting of snow under the next morning's sun. I really enjoy hanging out with Rusty and we rub up against one another in friendship. I have a gentle disposition and mom describes me as a dear. You'll often find me at the top of the cat tree surveying my surroundings and watching the goings on in our foster room. I'm just what is referred to in the cat world as a good guy.

Anna: I'm just a baby girl at about 12 weeks old as of 12-15. I have impeccable manners and the life and love in me just shine through my precious little face. My fur is sumptuously plush and luxurious even though I am short haired. Play is high on my list of priorities and I scamper after anything that moves. My mom says that I am a joy to foster and an absolute darling. I love other cats too!

Rusty: Because I am so meticulous about my daily grooming you might think that I'm fussy, but I'm not. I just think that a guy with my gorgeous orange coat has to keep it in tip top condition. I'm a very friendly and sociable fellow who takes a lively interest in all that's going on around me. Sitting in my foster room's windows and watching the world outside go by is fun. If you are a fancier of orange tabbies, and who isn't, you will find me hard to resist me and my classic profile. I'm just a teen at the tender age of 9 months.

Our foster mom is Helen. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797.

Brittany
She's A Sweetie Through & Through
Kind Of Heart Is This Russian Blue

I once had a home, although my memory of it is fast fading. I was rescued by a kindly gentleman, who tried as hard as he could to place me back in my home. But his efforts were to no avail and I am now in foster care and anxiously awaiting my new, and I pray forever, home. I have the soft and dove gray fur of a Russian Blue and my eyes are large, radiant, and loving. At the tender age of about 2 years my life has been turned upside down, but I have become comfortable enough in my foster home to do normal cat things like giving myself a nice bath. At first I just curled up in a ball, but I see light at the end of the tunnel now and just know that there is a special someone out there for me. I am an agreeable girl who would fit in fine with other nice cats or dogs.
Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 for Helen's velvet sweetie.

Jackson

You'll Think This Love Was Heaven Sent
When You Make Yours This Southern Gent

My CARE admirer has described me as very handsome, elegant, and possessing an air of sophistication for someone only about a year old, but I'm not above sleeping with my favorite stuffed animal. I share a foster home with 3 dogs and a bird and even in this menagerie I stand out. I have a classic face, exotic eyes, sleek long body and legs, and a dapper white vest. I'm energetic and playful, but when the romping ends the loving begins. I delight in cuddling in bed with my person and purring them to sleep. There's nothing more comforting, I have heard, than a cat's purr and I am up to the task of soothing my guardian. I like to think that I am large enough to protect you and loving enough to make your life complete. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and talk with Dianne about making me your guy..

Isabella
On A Rainy Day Grab An Umbrella
For A Lifetime Of Love Adopt Isabella

After spending 3 of my 24 months or so of life in an austere pound cage, I was saved and whisked off to a wonderful CARE foster home. My philosophy of life is people yes, felines no. I just don't get along with those of my own species, but I enjoy human company very much. After some initial shyness, I will settle down on your lap and luxuriate in getting some soft caresses and chinny scratches. So there you have it; if you need a devoted feline friend and don't mind my being the only cat in your life, I'm the girl for you. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 about Janet's sweet Isabella.

Batman (R) with Mary Trois

Like A Buffet Beckons To A Fat Man
You Won't Be Able To Resist The Batman

Like Mary Trois I came to the rural pound as a tiny guy where I languished in a cage until CARE arrived and took us all to a wonderful foster home. I am a black and white playing machine who never tires of the toys and feathers here. I was caged for 8 weeks with no toys to enjoy so I am in absolute heaven with the cat trees and wide variety of kitty toys in my foster home. Don't think that I am a high maintenance guy though as a balled up piece of paper is fine with me as long as my person is playing with me. I am a gentle soul who often sniffs my foster mom's face and gives her kisses. Human companionship, after such a long while with very little of it, calms me and makes me feel secure. I can't wait to have my very own forever home where there will be someone to play with me lots and lots and where I will be a cherished family member. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 for a Batman awaiting his Robin. I am about 4 months old as of 10-8 and CeCe is my foster mom.

JR (JR is Adopted!)

Ossie (Ossie is Adopted!)

Ginger

Geena (Geena is Adopted)

Reba (Reba is Adopted!)
Hurry Hither Ye Ladies & Misters
To Adopt Yon Fine Brothers & Sisters!

It was a dangerous place in which to take refuge, but the five of us kittens had no home and nowhere else to go. So the rural country store alongside a busy truck route was where we managed to survive, along with our pal Harlie, until we were blessedly rescued. We are about 6 months old as of 9-27. Now without further ado, we will tell you a bit about ourselves.

JR: I'm a very handsome, dove gray guy who loves nothing more than to cuddle on your lap and hang out with you. I'm the biggest one of our litter so although I really enjoy romping with the other kittens I have to be careful that I don't get too rough with the smaller ones. I have a reliable and steady purr motor and it does not take much encouragement for me to start up a conversation with you.

Ossie: My striking bull's eye tabby markings are pretty exotic looking I admit, but I'm just a sweet little putty tat. I'm an excellent conversationalist, a lover of cuddling with my person, and a player with my siblings. Once my romping has worn me out, I'll crawl into your lap for some loving and perhaps a nice nap. My foster mom says that I am just a beautiful guy, inside and out.

Ginger:I am the softest buff color with bull's eye tabby markings. I am the shyest of our litter and need a bit more TLC, but I am a work of art in progress. The finished product will be awesome. A paint-by-number girl I'm not; a masterpiece takes longer to craft, but the wait is well worth it. While not as outgoing as some, I do enjoy being caressed and brushed. The being picked up and carried around thing is not yet my favorite thing, but I'm working on it. It may never be something that I'm crazy about, but that doesn't mean that I'm not a cornucopia of love and devotion. Being indoors has proven to be a wonderful thing, but it is still a big adjustment for someone like me who was born into a very harsh life. Like my brother and sisters I am blessed with the gift of conversation and would enjoy having my very own family to talk with. I've come a long way and just need your love to complete my journey.

Geena: I'm not only a dark orange tabby girl; I'm a bull's eye tabby too. I can be a bit shy and retiring, but allow me a few days to settle in and you will see how truly sweet and affectionate I am. I adore being loved on and brushed and will find my way up into your lap when I need my petting fix. I'm playful too and you can often find me sleeping in a pile with my siblings when I have worn myself out. I have the most melodious trill, so when I talk to my human mom she says it almost sounds as though I am singing. How can you say no to this face? I have so much love to give to the family who will hold me dear forever.

Reba: Orange girl kitties are fairly rare, so to find 3 of us in one litter is pretty remarkable. I am a classic short haired orange tabby and am the most outgoing of us 3 sisters. I am also the one most likely to strike up a conversation with you and ask for your take on the events of the day. I'm a playful lass and whether it is tussling with my siblings or romping with my toys, it's all good to me. I relish hanging out with my people and when the old eyelids get heavy and it's time for a nap, I'll be cuddling on your lap. One look into them and my marmalade eyes will mesmerize you.

Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to meet Marie's fine feline family.

Grayson & Smudge

Grayson

Smudge (Smudge is Adopted!)
Now Don't Procrastinate- You Should Hasten
To Meet & Adopt Sweet Smudge & Grayson

Now this is just my own little theory, but I think it's possible that when my brother Grayson and I were created my tail slipped into the dove gray paint pot that was used to color his fur. Then I wagged my tail and applied a smudge over my left eye. We are 3 months old as of 8-10 and we are quite the pair of handsome guys. I have a very winning personality, and although I am a spunky kitten full of energy and play, I am also a big time cuddler. I am a social little fellow, equally at ease with people and with other cats. I love playing with my big Uncle Simon and Grayson, the favorite game being with one of my sizable collection of balls. I am friendly, loving, and just the purrfect little gentleman. My brother Grayson is a cool guy too, although he is a bit more reserved than I am. While he too loves to play with all his toys, he also is very content to find a comfortable sunny spot from which to observe or in which to take a nap. He has velvety soft fur and graceful long legs which give him a coltish look. Like me he very much enjoys cuddling and he also gets along great with other cats. We are a sweet and fun pair who would complete your home and add much love to your life. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797. Marianne is our foster mom.

Lee
Want To See A Sweet Guy Glow With Glee?
Then Pledge Your Love To Gentleman Lee

When I was rescued from behind a local seafood restaurant I was almost down for the count. My fur was just one big mat and my mouth was in horrible shape with some teeth missing. I had to have more teeth extracted and now my foster mom and vet have me on antibiotics and hypoallergenic food to clear my mouth up once and for all. You probably are wondering how such a handsome Siamese gentleman came upon such harsh circumstances and to be honest it is just a blur to me now. I have gentle and soft blue eyes and the coloring of a chocolate point Siamese. I am an extraordinarily sweet, quiet, and mellow guy who adores being loved on and who will gently lift my paw to your hand to bring it back for more. I think that I would do best in a very quiet home. I am between 4 and 5 years old and LaNell is my foster mom. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797.

FIV Kitties

Hugo

Julio
Research Shows And You Will See
Cats Can Live Long & Happily With FIV

We are sweet, sweet boys, who unfortunately tested positive for feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) when we were trapped and brought into our wonderful foster home. Just for the record, FIV kitties can live long and normal lives. It is not at all the death sentence that some people might think that it is. It also is not passed from one neutered cat to another unless fighting and a deep puncture wound take place. We are certainly not fighters- just LOVERS!
Hugo: I am around 12 pounds of tabby and white splenditude (my own word). Sociability and friendliness define me and I don't mind saying a few words to remind you that it's time to love on Hugo. I am gregarious and outgoing and am comfortable with everyone. It's an overused word, but if you had to describe me in one word it would be NICE. I am about 2 years old as of 7-25.
Julio: Solid black with downy soft medium length hair, my mom calls me a beautiful little man with lovely gold eyes. At the tender age of about a year and a half I weigh just over 7 pounds. Who knew that you could buy sugar in 7 pound packages? I am a quiet lad and somewhat reserved, but I very much enjoy being stroked and talked sweetly to. I also relish playtime with toys, especially soft, bouncing balls. Always interested in what is going on around me, I like to watch the other cats and I talk to them when they are nearby. I'm just a very gentle, sweet, and easy going boy. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797- LaNell is our foster mom.

Opie (Opie is Adopted!)

Cory
Here They Are In All Their Glory
Loving Buddies Opie And Cory

We have become such good friends since we came to our foster home from a really horrible situation. Cats in our group of strays were being abused and killed, but blessedly we were trapped and gotten out of there. Initially we were very scared and shy and it has taken a good while in our loving foster home for us to feel safe and loved. But we have and now glory in being petted and loved on.
Opie: My name says it all. What could be more adorable than an Opie? At first, although I was the more outgoing of the two of us and would go to my foster mom purring and talking, I really did not want to be touched. I've changed and have become quite the little character, active, talkative, cute as a button, and happy as a clam. I revel in being petted and enjoy rolling over and over and rubbing against anything and everything. I'm full of life and love and my foster friend Molly and I play with each other all the time and sleep together on the bed or in the cat tree. To see my playful self, and my friend Molly, in action please click HERE. To see me and Blackjack, click HERE.
Cory: My tabby and white body is stockier than Opie's. I was the more timid of us, but now love to be handled. Opie is my best buddy and we have bonded so. We play and roughhouse like crazy cats, but then mom catches us lovingly grooming one another. We are about 1 ½ years old.

Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797- LaNell is Cory's foster mom and Opie is being fostered now by Chris.

Kim
"With Love I'll Fill Your Heart To The Brim
Just Do Your Part And Adopt Sweet Kim!"

My approach to life was quite simple; people, yes; cats, no. I am only about 4 1/2 years old and I have had a firmly established principle that I should be the light of my person's life and that I should not ever have to share affection with another feline. I have never had as much attention as I need and deserve, but now I have become more flexible on this point. When I go to my permanent, loving home I can share the love with another nice cat, particularly if it's a boy cat. But why would you even want another cat when you can have a beautiful light brown petite tabby with big green eyes like me? I freely give head butts and it takes just a few sweet words in my ear to have me going belly up to entice a stomach rub. I am not a true lap cat, but I LOVE being with my person and specialize in helping with household chores like laundry folding. My foster mom, Janet, says that I am such a help! I was rescued from a Kill Shelter and being with my foster mom has been wonderful, but it's time for me to wrap my paws around my forever family's heart. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797.

Pretty Girl
While This Girl's Name Certainly Is Accurate
For Her Many Charms It's Just Not Adequate

I have heard it said that I am the epitome of "tabbitudeness." I guess my silken short fur patterned with the most exotic tabby markings and the most gorgeous ringed tail this side of Rocky Raccoon have led folks to this conclusion. I am 2 years old now, as of June 13, and was born to a feral mom. As a kitten I moved from the wild side to life in a normal home, but my family cannot keep me now. I am healthy and possess impeccable house manners. While I am a tad shy at first with new acquaintances or situations, I adore being petted and receiving attention. I am a quiet lass and have an even temperament that enables me to get along well with other cats. I am just plain old good company and today especially who doesn't need a faithful companion? Oh, did I mention that I have the most soulful golden eyes? Dianne is my foster mom. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and you can meet me in my foster home.

Clyde

Cisco (FIV+)
Mom Wants To Travel- The Wide World To Roam
Our World's Collapsed- Now We Have No Home

We are C & C Kitty, Inc., and our only business is just plain loving people. At least, that's what we would be if we wanted to go to all the expense and effort of incorporating. So we will just remain amateur love bugs. Our mom has retired and now wants to travel the country, so she knows that she will not be home enough to care for us. We now must find new homes and CARE has stepped in to help. When we are adopted, it would be wonderful if we could go together to our new home, for we love one another. But if that is not possible, we are both resigned to it and will put our every effort into being the most loving and loyal companion anyone could desire. The day we leave our home will be a sad one, but life with someone who is more of a homebody would suit us very well. Please let us tell you a bit about ourselves.

I'm Clyde, a mostly white, tabby patched, and somewhat rotund sugar bear. I am just 5 years old and my absolute most favorite pastime is to be with people- I just can't stay away from them. I will trail you about the house like some dogs do, hoping for some Clyde time with my person and of course wanting to be involved with the day's activities. My litter box etiquette is perfect, but my strange stance when I potty may make you laugh. But my aim is true and I never miss. I am just the most warm hearted and devoted being under the sun and if you need such a companion to make your life complete, I'm your guy.

Hi, I'm the Cisco Kid. Well, not so much a kid anymore since I am about 8 years old, but I am Cisco. I'm a genuine bob tailed kitty- I hope that you can see my little black tipped bob in my photo. It's quite possible that the great creator of all things decided, when I was given such a short tail, to balance things out by giving me a larger loving heart. I am kind, gentle natured, and low maintenance. I am just no trouble and basically consider my reason for existence to be to dole out generous portions of Cisco love. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and Sandy can tell you all about me and Clyde. Make that call and you'll be looking for love in all the right places.

Tom (L) & Jerry

Tom

Jerry
Who Are These Guys Sweet & Purry?
Why, They're The Brothers Tom & Jerry

Unfair! Hurtful! Sorry, but that just had to be said and it's out of the way now. We are 4 year old brother cats who once lived in a family with an older dog and we all got along well with only the occasional spat, as happens in most families. But then a new dog entered our home and the big oaf displayed no respect for us and wanted to play roughly. We didn't take well to that and now instead of the canine terrorist being ostracized, it is us who must leave our home. So now CARE is looking for a great forever home, minus canines, for us where we will be esteemed for the fine cats that we are. We adore children and Jerry in particular will follow a youngster around the house like, if you will excuse the expression, a puppy dog. We are saddened at leaving our loved ones, but we can no longer coexist with that canine clown. Won't you take us in your arms and make everything right again? Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and ask for Helen to tell you all about us handsome guys.

Frankie
"My Head Was Torn & I Was Wracked With Pain
But CARE Soothed Me Like A Warm Spring Rain"

When CARE rescued me from the life of an unwanted and unloved stray, I had a gaping wound on the back of my head that stretched from ear to ear. The horrible wound was evidence of how severe a case of ear mites I had. You see, I had opened the laceration myself, vainly trying to ease my misery by constant scratching. The wound had to be sutured closed and my pus filled ear was treated with antibiotics. I can't tell you the relief I experienced once I got medications for my ears, and now I am in great shape once again. I am such a sweet natured fellow that even when I was being treated at the vet's I was even tempered and gentle- so much so that the veterinary staff fell in love with me. I am about 4 or 5 years old and am about 17 pounds of big, loving lug. I tend to take things as they come, and even mastered my first experience at the adoption stand without getting stressed out. I love to play (the feather wand being a special favorite) and am a skilled conversationalist too, especially at meal time. I would be fine with other nice cats and quite possibly a dog too. I have benefited in my foster home from eating a high fiber diet, something that is good for people too, and should continue to eat that formula. My foster mom can tell you all about that. If you are looking for a congenial and affable friend for life, I'm your man. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 for LaNell's sweet lug boy.

Patches

Such Boundless Love In A Sweet Li'l Tabby
Well Here She Is & That Ain't Too Shabby!

My name is Patches and I am approximately 19 months old as of April 15th! I am a former mommy cat; you may have seen my kittens (Fi, Fy, Fo & Fum) on this site. However, they have all been adopted and my foster mum tells me it is time to find my own loving companion! I am petite in size although I have fattened up a bit since being "spayed" and I love other cats, more specifically I adore my foster mom's kitty - Mr. 3-Spot. He spends a lot of time with me and he has an important role as the official assistant to CARE "foster" cats in my foster home! He was a real help when my four babies were running about and he also taught me how to be relaxed and laid back! We are spoiled with lots of yummy treats (Whisker Temptations are the best), and we often share a can of Fancy Feast! I may be small in size, but I have a big heart and am eager to share myself with you in a forever home! I will probably be shy at first, but before you know it, I will blossom into a real snuggle girl, and I will be forever grateful if you adopt me! Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and let them know you wish to meet Donna's precious Patches!

Blinky

"So What If I Sometimes Blink?"
"Inconsequential Once Our Hearts Do Link"

"I left it here somewhere"

Hi, I'm Blinky, also known as Blinkers and Blinker Doodle. My journey to my CARE foster home was an odyssey. I was the runt of a litter born to a feral cat that my foster mom's aunt in Pennsylvania was feeding. I was sleeping under cars and, fearful that I was going to be run over, the aunt scooped me up and asked her niece in Virginia to find a great home for me. I am now 9 to 10 months old (as of 3-10) and when I was a younger guy I was having seizures and eye twitches. CARE got me a great vet and now my seizures are totally under control and my blinking (therefore my name) only increases when I am tired or stressed. I take ½ tablet of Phenobarbital twice a day and I haven't had a single seizure since I started to take the medicine. Lest you worry about giving me a pill twice a day, I am the easiest fellow in the world to medicate. Mom just flips me over on my back, opens my mouth, and drops the pill in, and I swallow it. I never resist the pill or attempt to spit it out. It is just old hat to me and no big deal. And the medicine is only $11 a month, which is a small price to pay for the love and devotion of such a great little guy. Other than the blinking, which is less when I am rested, and leg twitches when I sleep or am about to fall asleep, I am a normal healthy cat in every way. My person must be responsible and understand that I MUST take my medicine and I can't miss a dose. The constants that you will find in me are sweetness and gentleness, for I have not a mean bone in my body. I am great with other cats, even those that would prefer not to be around other kitties, and have a way of ending up sleeping near them. I would be good with a nice dog too. In fact, I would be happiest in a home with another kitty to share sleeping, grooming, and playing with. I am the original LOVER BOY, purring up a storm and kneading bread almost constantly. Give me a nice lap to sleep in and I am in heaven as I love being held and talked to sweetly. But I have a playful side too and delight in batting jingle balls around the living room. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 as Ashley N's sweet boy awaits you.

Tango (Tango is Adopted!)

Guy

“I just love laundry day- now where did that dryer sheet go?”
What's As Delectable & Sweet As Warm Apple Pie?
Hold The Ice Cream, For It's Tango And Guy

We were feral, or at least semi-feral kitties, before we were captured by our wonderful foster mom Barbara and converted into loving, very civilized, and just plain sweet cats. We are about 1 to 1 ½ years old, so are just youngsters ready to embark on the next phase of our lives- having our very own forever homes. Please let us tell you a little about ourselves. Hi, I'm Tango, fully grown, but just 5 pounds of spunky affection. When I first came to my foster home I had no concept of what a "room" is and went a little crazy, bouncing around the room and hanging off of the door frame. But I'm a very quick learner and 3 days later I was in my mom's lap. Instinctively I knew how to use my litter box from the very first and I have very fastidious bathroom habits. We girls tend to be very neat like that. I delight in playing, chasing bell filled and hollow bouncing balls all over the place and batting them with my tiny paws. Pursuing string pulled by my mom is great fun too. I am 10 pounds of affection in a 5 pound velvety black package. I am very curious and interested in everything going on around me.
Greetings! I am Guy, formerly known as Shy Guy. Well, that name still applies whenever I see the camera in my mom's hand, as its appearance mysteriously sends me into hiding. Thus my web photo does not show my handsome self to best advantage. Tango on the other hand is a little ham. Unlike Tango I took a longer time to come to the realization that living in polite society is a good thing. I never tried to bite or scratch, but would head to my safe place whenever someone came into my room. But mom persevered, giving me treats by hand and then scratching my head and stroking my fur. Eventually when she came in to feed us in the morning I jumped down to greet her. Now she can't sit down that I am not immediately in her lap, giving her gentle head butts, purring, and carrying on a running conversation with her. Tango and I often have conversations and she has the most delightful little trill. I twine myself around mom's feet and am such a demonstrative fellow now. I will likely always be wary of new objects and sudden movements, but once I settle into my forever home and feel secure, there will be no more loving companion than I. I am now curious and anxious to explore the rest of our foster home- Tango and I are always waiting right at the door to our foster room when mom opens it to visit with us. Oh, I forgot to mention that while chasing balls doesn't turn me on, I love romping after string. As with most cats in a new home, a safe room at first is the best course and the CARE volunteers can tell you all about that. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and Sandy can tell you all about me.

Rebecca
Hey, Over Here, It's Me Becky!
Did you know that Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) is a disease that is not easily spread to other cats and that FIV kitties can live long healthy lives? It is only spread through fighting and "fooling around." Since I am a lover and not a fighter and since I have been spayed, neither of those things is a possibility. So I can live a normal life as an only cat or with a non-FIV kitty, although I prefer boy cats to girls. I am a young (1 year) calico mom who just raised 5 healthy, fat little kittens, none of whom have FIV. My markings and eyes are beautiful and so is my spirit. I relish being with my people and frequently rub against them to emphasize that they are mine. FIV is NOT a death sentence and it should in no way be a bar to my living a long life in a family that appreciates the finer things in life, namely me! Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 about Janet's "Mom of the Year."

Tasha
Petite As The Kittens She Loves To Mother
I am a 2 1/2 year old very petite sweet little girl. I have had a hard life to date and need lots of TLC. I need to be adopted as an ONLY cat (although I would be fine with a non-aggressive male cat) to a calm, pleasant, loving home. I do not like other female cats, but am loving and nurturing to all kittens, even though they are not my own. I am also OK with very sweet and calm dogs. Call CARE @ (804)288-9797.

Sally
Don't Delay, Dawdle, Or Dilly-Dally
Love Awaits & Her Name Is Sally
(Adopted!)

There are no presents or parties at the pound where I spent Christmas and New Year's Day, but the priceless gift I received was in surviving until CARE could come and take me away from there. My memory of it has faded and I don't really know how I ended up at the pound, but I once had a family and I so want to have another one. This time though I want there to be a bond never to be broken. I must confess that my photo shoot did not go smoothly. I'm such a love bug that I kept trying to give my photographer head butts and that doesn't make for a stable shot. Now, good looks are wonderful and my foster mom says that I am stunning with my ultra soft fur and with the large black and silver tabby stripes on my body and face. More important than my exotic beauty is my lively and loving personality. I enjoy engaging my person in conversation and discussing the events of the day. I will thankfully accept as much attention as you have time for. Your arm may tire of petting me before I tire of being petted. I am terrific with other cats. We're buddies who have a great time using the scratching post, playing with our cat toys or even just a ball of paper or a paper bag with the handles removed (to avoid our becoming entangled). Mom says that I am purrfection in a gorgeous cat suit. I love everything and everybody and I'm only about 2 years old. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 and Helen would be delighted to show off her special girl.

Chestnut A/K/A Panda Cat

Chestnut (R) W/ CARE Pal Adam
Saved From Circumstances Perilous & Dire
Winters Hence He'll Bask Before An Open Fire

(Adopted!)

I was an unofficial resident of a nursing home, where there were soft hearted seniors who fed me and kept me from starving. But sadly they passed on and a call was placed to CARE to capture me and have me neutered and my medicals brought up to date. After this was done, the director there decided that I was not welcome to come back and I had to go elsewhere, except that there really was no "elsewhere" for me to go to. I admit that all this left me in an angry state and I was not very nice to my foster mom at first. But then I realized that she wanted only the best for me and we learned soon enough after my epiphany that we could trust one another. I am now such a love that she would give anything to make me part of her feline family. But she has many of her own, and foster kitties too, and must allow me to move on to a loving, forever family of my very own. I have tons of personality and have become a veritable love machine and avid seeker of affection. Every time she walks by me, I talk to her and reach out to touch her with a soft paw- I would never use my claws. I worship being cuddled, but being only about 4 years old, I can play hard and rough- with my toys of course. Any claw usage is confined to my toys, thank you, and never would I use them on my person. My latest show of love was to reach up to my foster mom's face to gently pat it with a soft paw, which is my way of saying, "I love you, Mom." My nickname is "Panda Cat"- because I am stocky and round and black & white. If you hug me I'll hug you back. To summarize, I am a GOOD cat and worthy of a special family, one that will appreciate all of my great qualities and cherish me for the rest of my life. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797 to talk with Chris about me.

Jody Foster
As A Love Squad She's A One Girl Roster
Presenting Sweet Baby Girl, Jody Foster
(Adopted!)

My name is Jody Foster; yep, named after the movie star. My foster mommy and rescuer liked the name Jody and since I am her foster kitty, well you can see where this is headed. She thought that was a cute play on words and all I can say is that some folks are easily amused I suppose. I was abandoned when my previous people lost their house to foreclosure. I was knocking around the neighborhood, left to fend for myself..........and in this heat....let's not even go there. Anyway, word of my plight reached the ears of a dear lady who took me in and got me into the CARE network. I consider myself one lucky girl! And if you choose to make me part of your family, you too will hit the jackpot. I am sweet, beautiful, playful, smart, and just want to be loved. I am easy going with people but because I am an Alpha cat (some might say a diva) I will probably do best in a home where I have your undivided love and attention. So if you looking for a charmer with star appeal and name, look no further for here I am. I'm an 8 month old brown tabby and Andrea is the CARE volunteer you will want to talk to about me. Please call CARE @ (804) 288-9797.
